EzGo golf cart serial number location and lithium battery replacement guide

This article details how to find your EZ GO golf cart model and engine V so you can quickly see if your golf cart is suitable for a 36V, 48V or 72V battery.

Step1: Determine the Year of the ezgo Golf Cart

Marathon 1988 – 1994

Medalist 1994 – 1995

TXT 1996 – Present

RXV made in the years 2008

Has two independent seat backs

The serial number is located under the passenger side glove box

The serial number can be found in three locations. 1. Mounted on the steering column, 2. Mounted on the frame below the driver’s side front splash guard, 3. Mounted on the passenger side frame rail.

Step 2: How to check the serial number

Marathon, Medalist, and TXT Models

- The manufacturer number will have 1 letter followed by 3 or 4 numbers
- 2 of the grouped numbers will indicate the year of production

RXV Models

Please visit the EZGO website and enter your serial number to clarify the model year of your RXV

Things to note

The models listed above are relative and not exhaustive. There are certainly other models and sub-models, but these nine are the most confusing and the most popular EZGO golf carts available today.

The word “Textron” on your cart does not necessarily mean it is a TXT model. Even though Textron is the parent company of EZGO, the TXT model name is not a reliable way to identify a shopping cart model. Some newer EZGO models display the model name (RXV, Valor, etc.) on the exterior, usually outside the front seat area and near the bottom of the vehicle.

EZGO golf carts date back to 1954, and older models may have aftermarket modifications, replacement parts, or additional paint. In these cases, it is important to find as many identifiers as possible to locate your EZGO golf cart model.
